The boomers who have been married 20 to 40 years are the greatest divorcing generation in U.S. history.
But there are many reasons why these breakups are positive:
—gender roles have changed dramatically during their adulthood, causing more conflict but more equality;
—people are living longer, healthier lives, making it easier to start over;
—and because they married younger than the present generation, they achieved key milestones earlier.
