If you are a woman and you think you are getting paid the same as a man doing the same job—don’t bet on it!  Just because women aren’t asked to get their boss coffee anymore doesn’t mean there is gender equality in the workplace.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, female attorneys make only 77 percent of what their male counterparts earn; retail salespeople, 65 percent; and financial advisers, a mere 58 percent. Part of the blame is the belief that women aren’t as smart or capable as men.  Another reason for the salary gap is that men are more aggressive.  They’re the first to speak up in meetings and talk about the projects they are working on.

Women need to stop undervaluing themselves!  They’re just as smart or smarter than the guy they are working with—and don’t forget it when you’re asking for a raise!
