After you get married, be sure to notify the IRS if you are changing your name (not everyone does). Also advise them of a change in your address if you are moving. You can miss getting your tax refund if they don’t have the correct address.
Marriage can result in numerous tax changes. If you are planning on changing your filing status to “joint,” it is important to look into your current income tax withholdings if adjustments need to be made. It is also important to notify the Social Security Administration if you change your name. You can notify SS by obtaining a Form SS-5 @http://www.socialsecurity.gov You can notify the IRS of any changes by filing Form 8822 @IRS.gov.
