Is there a future in marriage?  A Pew poll in 2010 found that a whopping 50% of young Americans, and 40% of all Americans, believe that marriage is becoming obsolete. There are others who want to revive the “traditional” marriage, get rid of no-fault divorce laws and change the attitudes about marriage.

It is interesting that at the same time, Gay rights advocates want to expand the institution of marriage to same-sex unions—while those who have the right to get married are increasingly deciding not to. In today’s world we don’t need to be married for a meal ticket, for a legitimate sex life, for social standing or to have children. Our longer life spans and shorter attention spans are a detriment to the lifelong marriage.
