You could end up with more than a drink or dinner when you use a dating app! You could end up with a virus on your smartphone and more…

More than 60 percent of the most popular dating apps are vulnerable to hacking according to a study by IBM Security.  Non-secure technology on these apps could get credit card info stolen, as well as have the hackers listen to your conversations.

And, the cyber attacks can happen even when you are not logged into the app! IBM Security found that 63 percent—or 26 of the 41—popular dating apps suffer from “medium or high security vulnerabilities.”

And businesses are vulnerable also. Employees can have a dating app on a mobile device that is used to access corporate info.  This could allow hackers to hijack corporate data and personal information.

“Consumers need to be careful not to reveal too much personal information on these sites as they look to build a relationship,” said IBM.
