It is very important that you:

1.  Stay involved in your case.  Don’t let your attorney run the show and dictate strategy.

2.  Don’t forget that you are the boss and your attorney is your employee.

3.  Don’t tolerate mediocrity from your attorney.

4.  Don’t accept “I don’t know” answers from your attorney.

5.  Don’t allow the attorneys (yours and his) to negotiate indefinitely over trivial or predetermined matters by swapping letters and phone calls that just run up your bill.
