New research has found a key to relationship happiness. People who have a self-accepting attitude may have better relationships. In a study by the University of Texas at Austin they found that people felt more satisfied with their relationship when their partner had a high level of self-compassion—being understanding and forgiving when experiencing personal flaws or challenges.

Self-compassionate people felt more worthy and happy, and their partners saw them as more supportive. Women tended to be more self-critical than men. Being kind to yourself means you will be kinder to those you love.
