Nearly half of the U.S. labor force is female, including 71% of mothers with school-age and younger children.  But female leaders have yet to approach parity at Fortune 500 companies, where women hold only one in six board and corporate-officer position—a substantial gain since 1995, when the count was lower than 1 in 10.
