According to a recent report in 2011 by the Census Bureau, nearly half of all women between the ages of 25 and 29 have never been married.  The report highlighted the shifting patterns of marriage and divorce since the 1940′s.

Among the changes found in the research is the rising median age of first marriages.  The age of first marriage is 28 for men and 26 for women up from 23 for men and 20 for women in 1950.

Divorce rates have leveled off after reaching a high around 1980.
