Miss USA is not the only one Tindering!

Tinder has taken on a whole new meaning as iPhone dating services look to capture the busy lifestyles and short attention spans of singles. It is the fastest growing iPhone dating app, which uses GPS technology to locate potential mates. The app can pull your photo (easy if linked to a Facebook account) and display your first name and age.

After downloading the app and selecting your gender, location and whether you like men or women (or both), you swipe through a stack of profile photos (left for “nope” and right for “like”) to approve or reject the faces of people offered up as potential date material. Based on little more than the person’s appearance you can “like” someone. If two users “like” each other, then they can proceed to have an online conversation. Only if two people both “like” each other are they allowed to message, reducing the barrage of messages women often receive on other online dating sites.  People don’t think of Tinder as online dating but as a game.

Tinder has captured a user base facilitating 1.5 million matches a day. It counts 4.5 profile ratings and boasts of having led to 50 engagements.  In total the dating industry brings in $2 billion in digital revenueand keeps growing!
